Winter Wishes

So I'm taking my first shot at a blog challenge.  The card is for the OWH Midweek Throwdown Challenge -Christmas in July  Enjoy!

Winter Wishes
I tried to keep away from the patterned paper with this one and I have to admit I really like it.  I used my Cuddle Bug and the Swiss Dots A2 folder for the red cardstock and the rest was just stamps from several stamp sets that I used glossy accents on.  I am testing its abilities and though its clean and simple I really like embossing powder better as an outline.

Thanks for stopping by =)

You Make Me Smile

So I finally purchased some REALLY awesome stamps from Verve and I love them. I'm a very patriotic person and their American Hero Collection is my favorite.  For this card though, I used the Blue Skies collection.

You Make Me Smile
I think the hardest part of this card was the butterflies! I stamped, then embossed, then colored, then cut!  I used craft wire to make the antennas and used glue dots to adhere them to the page.  The sentiment is also embossed (I just love how embossing looks).   I've really wanted to focus on anytime cards for the troops and I think this hit the spot!  Who doesn't enjoy a card or letter for no reason other than somebody cares about you!

This next card is a mixture of Blue Skies and Always on My Mind.

My Thoughts
Once again I stamped and cut the butterflies from the Blue Skies collection. I used Charcoal Chalk to soften the edges.  Chalking is another favorite technique of mine!

All of my cards created so far are for OWH.  A nice way to give to those who give all for you =)

Rockstar

I wanted to make some cards that were very CAS (clean and simple).  Since you can't use glitter on the cards being donated to OWH, I used my metallic paper stack to add bling and The Rockstar Stack by DCWV since it already had the metallic accent on several of the pages.

Popped Stars
For this card it was simple.  I selected a few stars and then cut them out with my X-acto knife.  I placed the paper on some hot pink cardstock then hand wrote my sentiment.  I reused the cut out stars to add dimension just by placing them on top of random stars with 3d foam.
Side Shot
Pretty easy right!

My next card took a little more time and I couldn't resist the urge for brads!

Thinking of You Rockstar
I hand cut the guitar with some scissors and used leftover stars from the first card.  After that it was just layering.  I'm embossed the sentiment for added texture.  Add 4 black brads and done!

About Me

Hey out there!

My name is Samantha and I have a strong passion for paper crafts.  I've only been crafting for about 2 years and it's been mostly self-taught by YouTube.  Recently, I found a new passion, card making for our Nations HEROES!! Operation Write Home (OWH) consists of fellow crafters from all over who make handmade cards and donate them to the troops so that the may write home to their loved ones.  There is so much joy in knowing that your card could have so much impact on a stranger.

A little about my personal life.
Well I am fortunate enough to be a stay at home mom and a wife to one of our nations heroes.  My husband serves in the United States Army and we are so proud of him and all that he does.  I have 2 children; a daughter age 3yrs and a son age 18mths.  They are quite the handfuls and I love spending time with them.

That's about all I have to share for now.  Off to craft =)
