OWH Sketch Challenge 196

Hey All!

Wow! October has been one really crazy month!  I've been busy trying to tackle a lot of DIY projects I have all over the house.  I'm really good at starting a project but I'm horrible at finishing them!  I've also really stepped up my running routine.  I'm doing 3 miles every other night on my own and I ran a 4.5mile run called the Bisbee 1000.  Over 1000 stairs!  I may have lost my mind a little here.

Have you all checked out this weeks sketch challenge over on the S&S?  Doodle Pantry is sponsoring the challenge so make sure you go play along for a chance to win if haven't already done so!

Missing You
The sentiment is by Verve and the image is an older one from SU.  Paper is by My Minds Eye and twine from my stash.  I really like this sketch.  I'll be making a few more cards with it to fill up my OWH box.
One finally finished!
A project completed...well almost there.  I spent more than a week stripping off all the layers of paint on these stands.  I scored two of them for what I felt was an amazing deal until I got home and realized how much work they were going to need.  There were layers of white, pink, yellow, and even GOLD! Most of the screws were stripped so taking them apart was a pain.  One is finished though and that's good enough for me.  When I find a spot for the second one I'll finish painting it too.  (I told you I'm horrible at finishing projects!)

Well thanks for stopping by!  Have a great week!

OWH Blog Skip featuring Perfect Paper Crafting

Hey All!! Welcome!  I hope you're enjoying all of the amazing inspiration along the skip.  If you've skipped on over from Jenny's blog you're on the right track!  You can also visit the beginning of the skip at the OWH Stars & Stamps blog.

Hello
I love these Perfect Layer tools! They are super easy to use and you get a centered layer/image every time!  I paired them up with Sketch 61, a SRM sticker, twine, and some really cute paper from My Mind's Eye.

Easy process
No more fussy cutting and dealing with small pieces in the paper trimmer.  These tools made layering my sentiment a breeze!  I also goofed and cut the layer around my pattern paper too thick on the sides so the tools quickly fixed that!

Perfect Paper Crafting has generously given OWHers a discount code for 5% off purchases - no expiration!  Shop with code:  OWH5%

Well, I truly appreciate you all stopping by!  Your next blog on this skip is Jeanie!

I'm on a bit of an AnyHero kick these days but there's definatly nothing wrong with that!  I used the CL646 Happy Birthday stamp set to make my card.  The sentiments in that set are very well loved!  If you love this set or any of the others along the way be sure to check out the Hero Arts site here.  Hero Arts donates 25% of the profits from the sale of these specific sets to OWH!

A grateful American
I just adore this Ciara stamp and sentiment from Stampers Best.  Ciara is one of my go to stamps for Any Hero cards.  Sandy created an amazing coloring tutorial for her that you can check out on her blog here.  Y21 really does make all the difference in making her a real golden!

Inspires Me
I love this bold bald eagle stamp.  Make sure to go check out the rest of the great stamps that Stampers Best has to offer as fundraiser sets for OWH.

OWH Blog Skip featuring Unity Stamps

Hey All!  Welcome to your next stop on the OWH Blog Skip featuring Unity Stamps.  You should have arrived here from the OWH Stars and Stamps blog.

Real Men Don't Wear Capes
I kept my card pretty simple.  I was inspired by this sentiment from Unity Stamps and paired it up with some patriotic paper from my stash and Soldier Ian.  Writing in AnyHero cards is the hardest part for me.  I like to tell our Heroes how much I appreciate them and their service.  When I'm really stuck on what to say, I like to ask a couple of my close friends to write for me.  Not everyone can make a card but they all can say Thank You.

Your next stop on the skip is the talented Lee Mae.

OWH Sketch Challenge 188

Hey All!  The kiddos and I are getting super crafty with ourselves today!  They are making paper clothes for the dog and I'm knocking out a few cards.  The new Sketch Challenge over on the S&S is a beauty!
hi There
The paper is Reunion by My Minds Eye and the sentiment is from Verve.  I love using 6x6 packs now for my card making.  The print is at the perfect scale and they coordinate perfectly!

Thanks for stopping by!

Late Night Partying

Hey All!  The OWH VCMP is live over on the Stars and Stamps blog.  I hope you all get a chance to play along!  I'm staying up late and cranking out a few more while my mojo is still hot!

just a little note
Although this was today's last challenge I'm showing it off first.  I'm really loving the masking tape block stamping technique.  I didn't think so at first and actually almost skipped it!  I used some Ranger Inks by Tim Holtz since I did away with all my other colored inks a long time back.  The image and sentiment are a retired Stampin' Up! set.

Winter Wishes
The first challenge of the day was to create a winter themed card based off of a sketch.  Papers are SU and the sentiment is an old Fiskars one.

Happy Birthday
Challenge two O-W-H.  O is for the orange I used.  W is for the white and H is for the Happy birthday sentiment.  What do you think? Did this fit the challenge?  Sentiment is by Hero Arts.

I Miss You
The triple die cutting technique proved to be a challenge for me.  My only large dies are circles and stars.  I did some clever manipulating with my paper trimmer to pull this one off.  Sentiment is by Hero Arts.

LOVE
Next was a sketch challenge using love as the theme.  The sentiment is by SRM and I will have to check on the image.  A friend of mine mailed me a few a while back.

OWH Sketch Challenge 182

Hey All.  It's been really quiet on my blog the last few weeks.  We went on vacation to Texas to visit my brother and his wife and their two very adorable little boys.  Then we came back and I HAD to have my wisdom teeth taken out.  That was a pretty traumatic experience.  I have a huge fear of dentists.  Not sure why since my mom said I was such a champ when I was little but now just thinking about it makes my skin crawl.  It's taken me 6 years to find the courage and do it.  Yes, I'm that terrible!

ANYWAY! I have a card for this weeks sketch challenge 182.

hello Sketch 182
I love this paper.  I've been hoarding it for a couple years now to be honest.  I did a little diy on some wooden craft frames and used the left overs for the card.  The paper is by BasicGrey and the sentiment is an SRM sticker.

Frames DIY
Really do love how these turned out.  Now just to put some pictures of my beautiful kiddos in them!

OWH Sketch Challenge 179

Hey All!  I'm back with a new card for the current sketch over on the S&S.  The final result is nowhere near what I started with but I'm happy with it.

Sketch 179
The image stamp is Birthday Josh by Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps and the sentiment is from Hero Arts set Happy Birthday.  I probably stamped Josh off onto 5 different colors of cardstock before deciding to just leave him on white.  I outlined him with a C1 Copic marker.

OWH Sketch Challenge 178

Hey All!  The current sketch this week on S&S comes with lots of great layers!

Sketch 178
Still loving on My Mind's Eye Quilting Bee DSP.  The sentiment and butterflies are by Verve.  I stamped the butterflies once on the white card stock and then again on scrap DSP.  Just like paper piecing and no tiny parts to attempt to cut out!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great week!

OWH Sketch Challenge 177

Hey All!  I'm really diggin sketch 177 over on the S&S blog.  I wasn't sure I liked it at first but once I started playing with paper it all worked out perfectly.

Missing You
I love this DSP and cannot believe I actually cut into it.  It's Quilting Bee by My Minds Eye.  The stamp set is Right At Home from Hero Arts and the rhinestone brads are from my stash.  The bricks on the house were made by using my colorless blender Copic marker.   Time consuming but completely worth it!

OWH Sketch Challenge 176

Hey All!  Today I spent the entire time with my kiddos in the craft room.  They were having so much fun I even let them eat their lunches in there.  It's a big mess but we had a lot of fun cutting out Angry Birds and coloring stamped images.

AngryBirds

You're so special to me
I managed to squeeze in a couple cards myself. Lots of fun making this one.  I used this weeks S&S sketch 176.  The papers are My Minds Eye Happy Day stack.  The sentiment is Hero Arts Year Round Sentiments.  I'm not going to share the other cards since they are just repeats of the one I made last week.

Thanks for stopping by!

OWH Sketch Challenge 175

Hey All!  I am in love with this weeks sketch challenge 175!  It will be great for using up scraps and making a card last minute (something I seem to do often!)

Sketch 175
YUP! This is my new favorite sketch.  I love how clean and simple the card turned out.  The DSP is Happy Day by My Minds Eye and the sentiment is Hero Arts OWH set Right At Home.

Heart Shorts
Last week I shared a small preview of what I've been working on.  My daughter has a lot of jeans with holes in them and I am currently catching up on turning them all into shorts.  I love the little hearts I painted on these and so does she.  As soon as I wash them she is pulling them out of the hamper to wear them.  I'd say I did a really good job!

Polka dots
Why stop with just a pair with hearts?  I'm making another set with dots but they are taking me FOREVER to paint.  Ugh.  She better love them as much as the hearts!

A little bit of lately

Hey all!  I've changed my blog name.  I just couldn't commit enough to the last one for so many reasons.  This one is different.  The name already feels like a better fit.  I can't be the only one to ever feel the need to change right?  I hope I didn't just mess up every link created to it out there though.

My Kiddos
Here is a little piece of life lately.  The kiddos have both finished their first Tee Ball season.  I'm so proud of them.  I really didn't think Lainey was the sports type but she proved me wrong.  Jace on the other hand takes after me and could have cared less.  They both did enjoy it though...for the most part.

Felt Flowers
I've realized that I only seem to share cards when I'm actually capable of so much more.  I love to sew and use the glue gun and much, much more.  I saw these flowers on Pinterest and just knew they would be perfect for our entry way.  I bought some craft round dowels at Walmart and painted them green.  I have more felt then I really need so that came from my stash.  I made a 3inch in each color and a 2.5inch in a grey and white.  One yellow was all the pop I needed.  The vase is from Ikea.

On my craft desk
Here's a little sneak peek at what's currently on my craft desk.  There's going to be one very happy little girl in my house soon!

2 Cards and a Winner

Hey ya'll!  The mojo is still flowing and I have two cards to prove it!

Hi-Ya!
I made this card for the OWH Sketch Challenge #161.  The cute little bear and sentiment are from MFT.  I couldn't decide between the red or the orange twine so I twisted them together and used both.

Thanks
So the current Midweek Throwdown is a recipe challenge.  I struggled with this one and ended up breaking my C plate in two.  I found a sketch on Pinterest and finally made things work.  The star is my die cut of choice and to really make it pop I adhered it to some black cardstock and trimmed it out.  The sentiment is letter stamps from MFT.

Now the really fun part!  The winner of the small flat rate box of stamping goodies is Diane!  Congratulations Diane!!! Please send me your contact info.

Have a great weekend!

Great Catch

Hey All!  I'm back with 2 cards to share with you.

You're a Great Catch!
I love this image.  It's from My Favorite Things.  They generously donated stamps to OWH and I have really enjoyed inking them up!  This card was made for the OWH Sketch Challenge #160.  One of my previous cards was chosen as the sketch inspiration and it totally made my day to see it! I hope you'll play along!

I Miss You
This was the inspiration card I previously made.  You can check out that post by clicking here.

From The Bottom of My Heart
I made this card also using a donated stamp set from My Favorite Things.  The current MWT challenge was fun folds so I took a shot at a gate fold card.  Is there some magic secret to getting them to lay flat?  I paper pieced the dress and heart of the image since I really wasn't in the mood to color.  GASP! Please don't tell my daughter that!

From The Bottom of My Heart Gate Fold
Well, there you have it!  Thanks for stopping by!  Please check out my previous post for details on your chance to win some free stamping goodies! Have a great weekend!

A Happy Hello

Hey All!

I've got two cards to share with you this time around.  I know it's been ages (okay months) since my last blogging but the card mojo was seriously AWOL!  I just sat at my desk starring at stamps and paper just hoping a card would make itself.  That sadly did not happen.  I tore my craft space completely apart and reorganized hoping to find a little mojo hidden with the dust bunnies.  I found a bunch of stamps that were donated to my kiddos two years ago and watched my son go into stamping heaven.  That was my inspiration.  If this little booger could make a card, well so could I.

A Happy Hello
I made this card for the OWH S&S current sketch challenge #159.  I wasn't feeling the circle so I went square instead.  Love those trusty pinwheels.  The paper is by BasicGrey and the sentiment is from Verve.

Hello Sunshine
Super clean and simple right here!  This card was made for the OWH S&S midweek throwdown challenge, using your state flag colors.   Being stationed in Arizona meant using red, blue and yellow.  I tried really hard to do something creative with the twine but nothing seemed to work and I ended up ripping a lot of paper.  The sentiment on this card is from My Favorite Things.  They generously donated stamps to OWH.

SO if you made it this far, you are in for a treat.  I'd like to take my absence and make it your gain by offering a prize to one lucky commenter!  A great bunch of stamps, twine and embellishments will be squeezed into a small flat rate box.  All  you have to do is leave a comment telling me what gets your mojo flowing.  You have until February 28, 2013 to enter.  Best of luck!
